I first came across this band from Denton, Texas, while pounding beers in our London flats. Whoever’s room we were in had control of what music would be played, and my friend Jake from Petaluma put on this band that mesmerized the hell out of me. The combination of crazy electronic sounds combined with light vocals always get me, which was probably why I became a fan of Toro Y Moi immediately after pressing ‘play’ on one of his songs.
